A $10 million hotel will come to a prominent municipality in the Dayton region. The project will add a leisure travel option to a growing county.
Springhill Suites by Marriott is coming to 1825 Towne Parke Drive in Troy, Rob England, chief building official for Miami County, confirmed. The hotel will sit at just over 57,500 square feet, according to a building permit, and cost $10 million. Additionally, it will be four stories with 90 rooms.
Other details were not immediately clear. Marriott did not respond to the Dayton Business Journal's request for comment.
But England said he was told the project "will bring employment opportunities both during and after construction" — though an exact number was not offered.
"As Miami County continues to flourish," he told the DBJ, "we need these hotel options for business as well as leisure travel." England added that Miami County "maintains a robust economic status," and projects like this help "solidify the value of this area."
The land is currently undeveloped, according to the Miami County Auditor, and comprises of nearly 5 acres. The site is close to restaurants and retail spaces, including Meijer, Buffalo Wild Wings and Cold Stone Creamery. A Holiday Inn Express & Suites and Resident Inn by Marriott also sit nearby.
Springhill Suites are all-suite hotels, according to its website, offering "stylish space and inspiring design, all at an affordable price." There are over 300 locations across North America.
Troy is one of the largest municipalities in the Dayton region, according to DBJ research, ranking at No. 8 with a population just under 26,500.
